Lera Ost

I am a multidisciplinary artist working with dynamic forms and a near-abstract visual language. My practice is situated within contemporary art and engages with themes of transformation, memory, and the evolving relationship between human experience and the environment.

Working across painting, graphic media, and object-based practices, I investigate the interplay between gesture, structure, and conceptual frameworks. My work develops through layered processes, in which form remains unstable and subject to transformation, reflecting conditions of tension, transition, and internal states.

My background includes experience in contemporary art, pedagogical practice, and digital media. This informs an interdisciplinary approach that combines material processes with research-oriented methodologies. The act of making is understood not only as production, but as a form of inquiry.

Exhibitions are approached as open-ended structures rather than fixed narratives, enabling multiple modes of interpretation and encouraging active engagement with the work.

After relocating to the Netherlands in summer 2024, I found new inspiration in its creative and supportive environment. Here, I continue to develop large-scale projects, combining painting, sculpture, and installation to reflect on human transformation and the ecology of both inner and outer worlds.

Born and raised in Ukraine, my artistic voice is rooted in personal and cultural experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, and have worked across disciplines — from curating exhibitions to producing site-specific work for private and commercial spaces. For years, I also mentored young artists, helping them find and shape their own creative identities.
